You are probably asking, “What is a podcast?” I’m here to tell you what that is. A podcast is defined as “a digital audio or video file or recording, usually part of a themed series, that can be downloaded from a website to a media player or computer” (Dictionary.com). While this is essentially true, it is not completely true. While a podcast is meant to be downloaded and listened to, it can also be streamed over the internet, much like videos on Youtube.
iTunes has long since used the term Podcast. An iTunes podcast is downloaded, whenever there is an update, to the user’s iDevice when they sync to iTunes. The type of podcasting I do is a little different because I am not involved with iTunes. Listeners simply press play on my content and it is streamed to them right then and there.
I hope this helps you to understand what a Podcast is. Always remember; a podcast does not always have to be about the same thing every time it is released. Especially on my blog, I post anything from rants to controversial content. It all depends on the mood I’m in that day. 😉
